Are there steroids in Viagra?

Rafael Palmeiro doesn't know how he tested positive for steroids. However, I think I might know. Maybe the true power of Viagra has been revealed. Maybe Raffy is just paying the price for being a Romeo. Surely he couldn't have willingly taken steroids. He testified before congress in March that he never dreamed of doing such a thing. He blasted Jose Canseco for not only taking steroids but promoting them. I would like to take bets on when (not who, but when) the first person actually admits to taking steroids. I don't think it'll ever happen.

Out of every player that's tested positive so far in MLB, every single one has played the "dumb" card. The problem being that if everyone uses the same excuse, it doesn't work! At least they could've came up with a good excuse like Tyler Hamilton. Hamilton contends that the foreign blood found in his body was not a result of blood doping. Rather, it came from his twin that died in utero or from his mother while he was in the womb. I have to give Hamilton an "A" for effort on this one. Nobody else has used that excuse which makes it more believable. I don't know what to believe but a "vanishing twin" excuse goes a whole lot further than the "I don't know how the steroids got into my blood" excuse. Maybe MLB baseball should offer $1,000,000 to anyone who admits using steroids after they've tested positive. You'd have players showing up at the MLB headquarters demanding to be tested.

As for how this affects Raffy's Hall of Fame status, I don't think it does much good to talk about that right now. An ESPN poll showed that 55% of the voters felt that Raffy should not make the HOF because of the streroids. I wouldn't expect anything less. Everyone is pissed right now. The same thing happened with Mark McGwire after he testified at congress. The fact of the matter is that nobody knows how the voters will feel in 5-10 years. Since baseball didn't crack down on steroids until this year, it's possible that the voters will just chalk it up as part of the game. It's also possible that they'll try to make an example out of Raffy and Big Mac. It's impossible to tell. Instead of wasting time trying to guess how voters will feel in ten years, I say we get the steroids out of Viagra.

Risking your Hall of Fame career thinking about your "stick" is one of life's pitfalls. It's hard to imagine that this story will come down soon. Personally I think the guy is a stiff who got off hiding the fact he was a juicer. Did he commit a boner? I think baseball finally has a rock-hard case against players who screw with the system.

About the Tyler Hamilton thing - some doctors agree with him, and think that as many as 50% of all people could have multiple (or, rather 2) blood types. When using tests that will come back "positive" for even the smallest amount of "doped" blood, you will usually fail the test if you are a chimera. Not sure if I believe Hamilton, but some scientists do.
