It would take a blow out in the next game to put doubt back in their minds. I am tired of Detroit's complacency but I think management (Joe D and co.) are OK with it because they are doing well in the reg. season and are good enough to make the playoffs. Obviously the championship hunger is gone from the front office or they would have seen the last 2 years and shaken things up as a result. Of courtse, I do not think we have even a remote chance of winiing it all this year. When I watch the teams in the West and the level they play at it is a ridiculous to compare the East to them. Only Boston really plays with that intensity. A lot is also made of Rasheed and how he is a leader but I think Chauncey is to blame as well. He is very laid back and never seems to get animated much on the court. Dice and Rip played out of control in that 1st game and I agree, the bench was not utilized enough. I would put in Affalo and Stuckey before I would ever put in Hunter. Coaches always shorten their rotation in the Playoffs though. Flip should let it all hangout because this could be his last playoffs in a while. We will see.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13718554.post-71518180670762731902008-04-22T02:44:00.000-04:002008-04-22T02:44:00.000-04:00Hey, great post today, I only wish that the starti...Hey, great post today, I only wish that the starting five and the coaching staff would read over it as well. While I was reading over what you posted I couldn't help but think that the Pistons' periodic motivation deficits are a result of their very identity.
People give Joe D a lot of credit for taking a bunch of "castoffs" and guys with monkeys on their backs and turning them into an elite squad. But now you have to wonder if there was something about the mentality and attitude of these players that deservedly earned them such labels in the first place.
Again, great stuff...this is by far the best Detroit sports blog around.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
