Tough to get guaranteed money, tough to renegotiate, tough to be a 27 year old RB.

But look, T.O. signed the contract got 20 million up front, and he did this all last year after refusing a trade to the Ravens. To me a slightly extreme comparison is an anti-war shitbag who is crying because he signed a four year contract with the Army and now has to go to Iraq. Maybe he should have an agent too.

That is extreme but I don't sign a contract, especially for seven years, if I know that I might not like the results after two or three years (In T.O.'s case, 12 months).

I'm sorry, this is a bad argument and a poor example of what I agree is a bad league-wide situation. Just say the NFL has all the marbles and the players get screwed. Players like Hines Ward, Shawn Alexander, Edge, but not T.O. He got a good deal and no one held a gun to his backward country ass head and told him to take a contract that might be under his value.

I still love ya man.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13718554.post-1122702629291673662005-07-30T01:50:00.000-04:002005-07-30T01:50:00.000-04:00If I had to pick who I think is getting burned the...If I had to pick who I think is getting burned the most, I'd say Hines Ward over TO for sure. I like Ward more and he's making next to nothing. The two situations are very different but they end up at the same place. You're right, TO signed the contract so he could go where he wanted. He manipulated the system to get out of going to Baltimore. However, as long as the Eagles have the right to void his contract, then TO should have the right to void it as well. I'm not a big TO fan and I hate holdouts but if I were in the same situation, I'd have to seriously consider doing the same thing. If the money was guaranteed then I'd say get your tail out there and stop complaining. The problem here isn't TO. The problem is the contract environment in the NFL. It needs to be changed.Jakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16208921021297172480noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13718554.post-1122684356534614142005-07-29T20:45:00.000-04:002005-07-29T20:45:00.000-04:00TO's contract is below market value (for his produ...TO's contract is below market value (for his production) because he accepted less money to get to the team he wanted. Now he wants the money and the Eagles. TO's situtation is in no way parallel to Hines Ward who had zero leverage at the time he signed his current contract.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
