It goes back to a game in 2001 in which Houston would not move the game to Reliant and then "condemned" a temporary section of seats (which had been sold to Horns fans, primarily) at their small stadium as unsafe and left orangebloods w/o seats. The subtle attempt to get a bit more of a home field advantage. Didn't work (55-26). Our AD has sworn off playing them in any of the Big 3 since (save the Minute Maid college baseball tournament every other year, too good of an opportunity).J.R. Sure it would be a good fit for the Big 10 to get ND, but I really don't see what ND gets out of the deal.

If the Big 10 decided to play hardball, I don't foresee a shortage of teams willing to play against them. With the perception of Big Ten football as overrated, in spite of a good bowl season, people may feel it would be advantageous to dump those 3 games.

If ND wanted to join a BCS conference, why wouldn't they just join the Big East? The only two ND sports I can think of that aren't associated with the Big East are ice hockey and football. In the Big East, they'd still be in a BCS conference, the basketball conference is one of the strongest in the nation, and it wouldn't mess with any other sports they have. I don't think any talk about ND joining the Big Ten is complete while ignoring its Big East ties.

All that being said, I have no problem with the Big Ten playing hardball. Maybe we can schedule some games against the likes of Boise State and TCU, which I should try to get back to watching.

Keep on posting Jake, I always look forward to your updates, even if I don't comment often.chensknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13718554.post-74520003035178641622010-01-04T09:37:14.870-05:002010-01-04T09:37:14.870-05:00We don't need them.
